Fowler School of Engineering presents:
Summer Engineering Academy 2024

Check-In: 8:45 a.m. | Workshops: 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m
June 24 - July 18, 2024

Fowler School of Engineering proudly offers engineering workshops for high school students over the summer. Students in grades 8-12 for the 23/24 school year qualify. Each workshop includes lunch.

Design and Fabrication
Design and fabricate an LED-powered decorative light and learn about the basics of computer-aided design, 3D printing, and laser engraving in the process.
Students will learn four software solutions that are commonly used in the industry for designing and manufacturing products: Fusion 360, Prusa Slicer, Arduino IDE and Adobe Illustrator. The end product will be an acrylic panel with a custom-engraved picture that sits on a 3D-printed stand and lights up when powered via USB.

Arduino Smart Car
Attendees will gain hands-on experience with electronics, including breadboarding and soldering, to test their circuits before assembling it all together on a printed circuit board. While testing, students will also write code in Arduino using a microcontroller to control two motors, a servo, and a distance sensor. Once fully assembled, each car will be put to the test through an obstacle course!
